John graduated from St. Edward High School in 1965. He continued his education at Bowling Green State University where, in 1969, he received a Bachelor of Science Degree. After graduating from Bowling Green, John moved to the Cincinnati area where he attended Northern Kentucky State College, Salmon P. Chase College of Law, while working full time as an Insurance Claims Adjuster for Nationwide Insurance. In 1975, John obtained his Juris Doctorate Degree. Upon graduation from law school, John continued to work for Nationwide Insurance as a Claims Attorney. In 1976, John fulfilled a lifelong dream when he moved his family back home to Berea to begin practicing law with his Father, John J. Wargo, Sr. It was this father and son partnership which resulted in the formation of Wargo and Wargo Co., L.P.A. John has been the managing partner at Wargo and Wargo Co., L.P.A. since its formation in 1976.

For 42 years John’s extensive and busy law practice has grown from practicing locally at Berea Municipal Court to cases in Federal District Court. John capitalized on his years of experience with Nationwide Insurance to develop an extensive personal injury and medical malpractice law practice. Over the years, John has broadened his legal practice into other areas including, domestic relations, real estate, business law, civil and business litigation, probate and estate planning, elder law, and guardianships.

John currently represents victims of personal injuries and medical malpractice, auto dealerships, commercial and individual businesses, and numerous clients in probate, guardianships, and estate planning. Through hard work and extensive preparation, John has secured million dollar settlements against major hospitals as well as million dollar awards for accident victims. In October of 2016, after a lengthy jury trial, John successfully obtained a $1.3 Million punitive damage award against Giant Eagle, Inc. This punitive damage award was the first in the country against Giant Eagle.

For years, John has employed his skills as a trial lawyer while working with St. Edward’s students in the St. Edward’s Mock Trial Program. In 2016, John helped coach the Mock Trial Team to wins at both the District and Regional levels before finishing as one of Ohio’s top 10 high school mock trial teams.
